Automatic Structured Data
Automatic Structured Data (JSON-LD)
Structured data restates a page’s content in machine-readable form and embeds it alongside. When an AI composes an answer, receiving organized data beats interpreting prose — it is more reliable and misreads less.
The bigger problem is rarely absence — it’s hand-written entries that develop gaps, or declarations that no longer match reality. We build a setup on microCMS where publishing alone attaches correct JSON-LD.

Common Challenges We Solve
- Structured data is 'supposedly in place' but no one knows what it actually contains
- JSON-LD is hand-written per article and stalls whenever the owner changes
- After a renewal, only the structured data was left with stale values
- FAQs exist on the page but are never emitted as structured data
- Want a third party to verify the implementation is ready for AI search and rich results
Types We Implement
Organization / LocalBusiness
Declares company name, address, contact, areas of expertise, and linked profiles in machine-readable form — the base an AI uses to judge who you are.
FAQPage
Hands over question-answer pairs directly — one of the most-cited formats in AI search, generated automatically from your CMS FAQ fields.
Article / BlogPosting
Declares author, publish date, update date, and heading structure. Being able to judge freshness and provenance materially affects citation.
BreadcrumbList / Service
Declares where a page sits in the site and what service it describes, signaling which page is canonical for a given theme.
How We Approach It
One Input, Both Outputs
Managing the page and its structured data separately guarantees eventual drift. We build both from a single CMS input so divergence cannot happen.
Attached on Publish
A microCMS webhook rebuilds the structured data on every publish or update. Editors don't have to think about it; coverage grows as content grows.
Never Declare What Isn't True
Wrong structured data damages trust more than none at all. When a value isn't available we omit the property rather than invent one to fill it.
Process
Audit Current Output
We inventory what each page currently emits and surface gaps, duplicates, and mismatches with reality. This step can be commissioned on its own.
Decide Scope and Types
We decide which types go on which pages. There's no need to cover everything at once — company info, key services, and FAQs are the usual starting point.
Build the Generation
We implement JSON-LD assembly from CMS fields and wire it to fire on publish via webhook, integrating with your existing front end where needed.
Verify and Hand Over
We validate the output per page and document what will be attached automatically as new content is added.
FAQ
- Will structured data improve our search rankings?
- Not directly. What it affects is how you appear in search results (rich results) and whether machines can interpret your content accurately. In an AI search context the latter matters most. We'd treat any promise of ranking gains with caution.
- Can it be added to an existing site?
- Yes. If the CMS lacks the necessary fields, those need to be added to the schema first. A practical path is to start with what can be extracted mechanically from the body and progressively promote high-precision items into dedicated fields.
- Will our team be able to operate it?
- With automatic generation in place, day-to-day operations rarely need to think about structured data. Development is only required when adding a new type. We document what is automatic and what is manual at handover.
